As we progress through the year, our students are still hearing from guest speakers and being given lots of useful information for life after Sixth Form .
During their recent PSHCE lessons students have listened to talks from both NatWest and Jet2. Andy and Rachael from the NatWest Group shared all about career journeys in banking. They wanted to debunk our students’ preconceptions that banking might be boring and have no purpose apart from making money. They explained that banking can mean travelling the world, working with businesses to lend them money to help them grown which in turn means that communities can thrive.
Katie and Connor from Jet2, talked about the vast range of career opportunities at their business. Connor, an ex-student, was delighted to return to explain all about his apprenticeship with Jet2, the experience he’s already gained and how he hopes to become a pilot in the future.
Meanwhile, Mr Mason, our Careers and UCAS Co-ordinator has recently shared his wealth of knowledge for those Year 13 students wanting to go to university in September. He talked about replying to offers, UCAS Extra, accommodation and most importantly student finances. Valuable information passed onto our students to help prepare and guide them for a successful transition to university.
All in all, our sixth form students are independent but we also want to make sure they are supported and cared for.
Thank you, all our key speakers, for taking the time to come and talk to our students.
