Closing date: 8am Monday 15th June 2026
Start Date: September 2026
At Horsforth School we believe in ‘opportunity and achievement for all’, are committed to the highest outcomes for students and to develop the best opportunities for staff. We are committed to being a ‘Greenhouse School’ and developing staff at whatever careers stage they are at. We are seeking to appoint a highly skilled, inspiring and forward-thinking colleague to join our PE team. Whether you’re experienced or newly-qualified, you will have the opportunity to join a highly successful department with a supportive and collaborative ethos.
Right now, we are looking for an inspiring teacher who can bring PE to life – and help us create a nurturing environment within which everyone can reach their full potential. Knowledge or experience of playing football would be an advantage.
Join us and you will be part of a fantastic PE Department with a strong team ethos. Our school is dedicated to evidence-based practice with a focus on Rosenshine’s principles of instruction, and we have a strong emphasis on incorporating educational research in to lessons. We believe in working collaboratively, sharing ideas and supporting each other to achieve great things as we develop innovative teaching and learning strategies. We are proud of the number of sports teams that run across all year groups and our success in regional and national cups in many sports.
The department has a strong academic pathway and there are multiple groups in both GCSE and A level PE. We have also recently introduced a vocational pathway due to the popularity of the subject at both level 2 and level 3. We have links with Trinity University and Cookridge Hall golf club who we collaborate with to run our ‘Golf Academy’ in the sixth form.
The department’s success is reflected throughout this ambitious and consistently oversubscribed 11-19 school, which enjoys strong community and international links. Our commitment to excellence in education is recognised nationally. Ofsted describe us as a ‘good school with outstanding features’.
Horsforth School is no ordinary School, join us and you’ll see what we mean. No role in Horsforth School is ‘just a job’, you will become part of a team who work to support and develop our amazing students whilst giving you the opportunity to take ownership of your own career. We are very proud of our outstanding, highly motivated and enthusiastic staff team and strongly believe that working collaboratively, sharing ideas and supporting each other achieves great things and allows us to develop innovative teaching and learning strategies.
Our vision is ‘Opportunity and Achievement for All’ – creating opportunities and supporting achievement for our students and colleagues alike.
Horsforth School’s results speak for themselves – GCSE and A Level results are consistently well above the national averages and in 2022, 2023 and 2024 the school had the best state school A Level results in the whole of Leeds.
In addition, Horsforth School was named the 4th best comprehensive school in the North in The Sunday Times Parent Power Guide 2026.
