School Meals
The Horsforth Catering Team provides healthy, well balanced meals at break and lunch.
Menus run on a 3 week cycle and are designed to give students a healthy, varied meal choice each day. Fat and sugar content are monitored and desserts (such as cookies) can only be sold at lunchtime if a sandwich/meal is purchased.
All of our menus have coded labels to communicate allergens.

Some of the products we serve may contain peanuts, tree nuts, soy, milk, eggs and wheat. While we take steps to minimize the risk of cross-contamination, we cannot guarantee that any of our products are safe to consume for people with peanut, tree nut, soy, milk, egg or wheat allergies.
We will also make every reasonable effort to ensure that the information provided is accurate however, due to the very nature of food production there can be variations in each meal. As a school we are not able to provide 100% accurate information on the food we serve.

We are pleased to report that at our latest Food & Hygiene Inspection (June 2019) we were awarded 5 Stars.
A variety of food outlets serve hot food and sandwiches/snacks.

How to Pay for Food
Horsforth School operates a cashless payment system. When students join the school they are allocated a catering card and access codes which parents/carers use to set up an account with ParentPay, our online cashless school payment system.
Catering cards can be topped up with money either online via ParentPay or by using the cash revaluation machines located outside the main diners. Please note that online payments may take a few hours to register on cards so please bear this in mind if you are making online top up payments during the school day.

Insufficient Funds on Lunch Card
Whilst we do our best to discourage the use of overdrafts our students’ well-being is our priority. Therefore we operate a lending system at lunchtime only. Till operators will allow students to purchase a main meal and a small bottle of water as long as their account is not already overdrawn to a maximum of £5.00.
You will be notified by email each week if your account is overdrawn. Balances can be checked using ParentPay.
Free School Meals
If your child is entitled to Free School Meals, they will have a £3.00 daily allowance for food/drinks to spend at lunchtime only in the main diner outlets (not vending machines). Any unused funds will be removed each day after 2pm.
Account Spending Limits
All our students have a daily spending cap of £6.00. However this can be lowered at parents’ request by emailing finance@horsforthschool.org
Replacement Catering Card
All students receive a catering card free of charge when they join Horsforth School. However if this is lost or damaged a replacement card will incur a £5.00 charge.
Replacement cards are issued by the Finance Office before or after school.
Forgotten Catering Card
Students who come to school without a catering card will be given one opportunity in a half term to borrow a red lunch card to use in the Best of British Diner.
Students should see Dr Bell at lunchtime on the tennis court to borrow a red lunch card which will permit them to buy one lunch for that day. Parents/carers will know this has occurred by a ‘Lunch Card Used’ stamp in their child’s planner.
