Tessa Freer - Community Governor
As Horsforth School community Governor my role is to represent Horsforth Community interests. I am able to provide specialist knowledge and experience from working within the community for the last 7 years. My role as Horsforth Children’s Service manager provides effective partnership work with key agencies and all the schools within Horsforth to ensure that we can achieve improved outcomes for our 0 – 19 year olds and their families. Through this work I am able to represent many different groups within the community that Horsforth School has an interest in.
I am a member of the Pastoral committee and work very closely with the Pastoral Team within School to offer support and guidance particularly around Child Protection and supporting our vulnerable students and families. As a governor my two passions are to; ensure all children and families feel welcomed and have a positive relationship with the school. All students’ voices are being heard and are consulted with on a regular basis.
Here are few examples of the work that I have done this year. Established good links with Horsforth Town Council and supported them in becoming a Child Friendly Leeds Ambassador giving our children and young people a voice within our community. I’ve worked with the staff around Transition for our new year 7 students.
