Students may act as a tutor group representative on the Sixth Form Council, or as a representative on the School Student Council. They become involved in the decision-making processes in matters such as fundraising, the development of facilities and the Post-16 curriculum itself. Careers GUIDANCE Our strategic programme ensures that students make informed choices about their options after completing their courses. We have a dedicated Careers’ Advisor who is always on hand to help and support. Individual guidance and action-planning are coupled with careers resources to fit students’ needs. Continuity and progression are very important and careful planning goes into the future of all our students. We use ‘Unifrog’ which matches students’ interests and the subjects taken, with employment, apprenticeships and Higher Education information. Visits are made to universities through Taster Days and Open Days and students can experience job-shadowing to get a taste of potential careers. They have access to an independent Careers’ Advisor and in-School careers’ seminars. Parents have the opportunity to attend information evenings and interviews, including our Higher Education Evening dealing with all aspects of applications, including financial issues. All students are invited to attend the Higher Education Fair at Leeds Beckett University in the June of Year 12, which includes a range of seminars and lectures in addition to the opportunity to speak with representatives from nearly all of the UK’s Universities and Colleges of Higher Education. We have strong links with Selwyn College Cambridge for any Oxbridge candidates.
