Horsforth School Prospectus

02 WELCOME TO HORSFORTH SCHOOL | HORSFORTH SCHOOL WELCOME TO HORSFORTH SCHOOL Welcome. I am delighted to be Headteacher of Horsforth School and I hope that from our prospectus you will get a real flavour of what makes our school so fantastic. I firmly believe in opportunity and achievement for all and we are proud to provide a first class education which aims to equip all students with the confidence, competence, knowledge, skills and understanding to fit easily and actively into a rapidly changing society. We aim to ensure that all students enjoy learning and achieve their potential, not only in their studies but also in sporting, creative and practical endeavours. At Horsforth we have an excellent academic record. Results are consistently above the national average and furthermore, our Sixth Form has been judged as ‘Outstanding’. However, it is where students go and what they achieve afterwards that fills us with pride.Whether our students’ destinations are Oxbridge, starting their own business or learning a trade, it is the skills, qualities and experiences we offer that helps them to get there. Horsforth School promotes the respect of other students, other cultures and the wider community. We encourage hard work, courtesy, good behaviour and service to others and we provide many opportunities to develop these attributes both inside and outside of the classroom. The opportunities available in our enrichment programme are extensive and whether you are interested in the science club, the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme, our many sports clubs and teams or even taking part in our school production, there are opportunities for enrichment available to everyone. Our partnership with our community is valued and successful. The support of Parents, Carers and Governors is a major strength of the school and by working together we have fostered a culture of success that, with your help, will continue for years to come. Dr Paul Bell Headteacher “ Students are cooperative in lessons and settle to work, following instructions willingly. They are keen to do their best and respond very well to teachers’ interest and enthusiasm. ” Ofsted 2013
