Another Great week of Results24.08.2017
After last week’s fantastic A Level results, we are delighted to share that, in a year of declining results nationally, over 75% of our students achieved 5 or more A*-C grades including English and mathematics at GCSE today. Nearly a third of all grades were awarded at A* or A. In addition a number of students received the new top grade 9 (the new tougher GCSE grading system), which only a small percentage of students received nationally. The school’s excellent track record for GCSE success continues and further cements our position as one of the top non-selective schools in Leeds.
Almost two out of three students achieved a strong pass (5+) in English and mathematics; the second best in Leeds.
Even though the new exams are more rigorous, standout performances include those from Antonia Ledda and Anna Radjenovic. Both students achieved three grade 9’s for English and mathematics – two of only 2,000 students in the country to do so.
We also had a number of students with all A*-B and 6+ grades across the board, Tilly Rodger, Emily Paynter, Holly Hardaker and Alex-Jay Brownridge to name a few. All the smiley students were off to celebrate their success at Leeds Festival or to eat a pizza lunch in Leeds!
Dr. Paul Bell, Headteacher at Horsforth School added “These excellent GCSE results come a week after our superb A Level results. We are so proud of the hard work and dedication of our students and pleased they have been rewarded with wonderful results. We look forward to welcoming them back to our Sixth Form in September and wish them all the best of luck for their future.”
Well done everyone and good luck!
